I am always looking for ways to improve my miniature-building techniques, so when I found miniature courses on Domestika, I was eager to try them out. I have Chelsea Anderson’s book, 50 Makes for Modern Miniatures (link), so I already knew how much I like her style and approach to miniature builds. In fact, the stove I made for A’s house (link) is from her book.
Here is my unbiased review of Chelsea Anderson’s Domestika course. You can check out the course for yourself at this link.

Cost of the course
The course was free to watch during my Domestika plus trial subscription, but in order to access the materials, like the SVG file download, I needed to pay the $2.99 discounted course price. After watching some of the videos I decided that price was well worth it. (And I used Rakuten to get 20% cash back. If you are not already using Rakuten, use our referral link (link) to sign up.)
My verdict: as always, Chelsea Anderson has fantastic content
This course was excellent. Chelsea Anderson breaks down every part of the process, from material selection to designing to building, in such a helpful way. I love how she talks about alternatives with every piece. And I learned several new techniques along the way as well as new materials to check out. I haven’t built anything yet, but I put her fiddle-leaf fig and woven ‘leather’ chair on my to-do list.
Comparison to the Jessica Dance course
I also tried another miniatures course on the Domestika platform, Jessica Dance’s course “Design and Build Miniature Interiors.” I purchased that one for 99 cents (and a free trial of Domestika plus). Through the Rakuten plugin, I got $1.30 cash back, so somehow I made a profit on the deal.
I enjoyed the inspiration of hearing about Jessica Dance’s varying artistic interests over time. I started losing interest when she started on the projects, but when I came back to it after Chelsea Anderson’s, I got into the groove more. That starburst clock she makes is very cool! That is the only item I would consider making from her course. I prefer working with basswood to balsa or foam board, so that was probably why this course did not appeal to me as much as Chelsea Anderson’s.
Future Domestika courses
I also want to try this course before the end of my free Domestika Plus trial: Techniques to Create Scale Models (link).
