During the Good Sam Miniatures Show in San Jose, I bought this kit for a intricate art deco side table. Arjen Spinhoven, the miniaturist, could not have been nicer in talking me through the assembly process.

I haven’t made a lot of mini furniture from kits, but this one seemed like a good choice because the fine detailing on the legs would not be achievable for me on a 3D printer or laser cutter.
The miniaturist’s website contained helpful tips about painting the thin mdf pieces. I did three coats, each with a different ratio of gel medium and acrylic paint. I think it turned out beautifully! Mixing gel medium into acrylic paint for a glossier look is a new technique for me but one I am going to get a lot of use out of.
